Milestones

The most important milestones in Iskraemeco’s development :

From 1920 – 1945 there were textile and machinery factories on the site on which Iskraemeco now stands.

In 1945, the factories were renamed "Strojne tovarne" and the production programme of this company also included the development and manufacture of electricity meters. In 1946, Strojne tovarne was renamed Iskra, and the regular production of single-phase meters began in 1948.

Production was increased to meet market needs, and the first production line was set in motion in 1954. The manufacture of three-phase meters began in 1958.

In the seventies, Iskra’s experts developed the first electronic precision meter and ripple control receivers.

In 1986, we set up the first system for metering and billing electrical energy.

The nineties brought independence for the Iskra Stevci company, and thus greater advance into the world. Production of monolithic meters began, in which some of our own patents were installed. The quality of business was adapted to the ISO 9001 international standards. We began to abandon production lines and introduced integrated worksites.

Changes to the social system led to ownership transformation and, at the end of this process in 1994, when workers chose a model of internal ownership, they became 60 percent owners of the new joint-stock company, Iskraemeco.

The years 1995-2000 are characterised by the modernisation of technological and business processes and production premises.

In 2001, we transformed the systems of quality and environmental protection into an integrated system of conducting business according to the ISO 9001:2000 standard.

The strategy of the company is directed towards internationalisation of production and globalisation of marketing. In 2002, the company already had fourteen companies abroad in which it had various ownership shares. In addition to systems of metering and billing energy in industry, we have also developed a system which covers household consumers.
