In recently completed contest, the French company EDF (Electricite de France ) chose the French Atos Origin company to set up a new system for collection and processing of electric energy data, through its daughter company ERDF (Electricité Réseau Distribution France) which is the biggest electric energy distributor in the European Union.

Atos Origin is the leader of the technological consortium, consisting of Iskraemeco, Actaris and Landis+Gyr, companies, i.e. the world leaders in the field of electric energy meters. The above stated system includes 300,000 customers in the first stage, while in the last stage all 35 million final purchasers of electric energy in France will be included, and it will thus become the greatest intelligent network.

Within this project, Iskraemeco, Actaris and Landis+Gyr will supply 100,000 meters each. All devices will excel in complete inter-connectivity, and measuring data will be collected remotely via low-voltage network by means of a DLC (Distribution Line Carrier) technology.

Atos Origin, as a leader of the consortium, takes care for the project integration, and directs and coordinates work of the companies involved. On the basis of the present information structure, it will also supply the information system for devices control and collection of data on measurement.

The consortium's target is to offer turnkey solution to the ERDF company which will enable testing of the control of 300,000 electricity meters, installed in two French regions up to the end of the year 2010.

»Being included in this prestigious French project which is the biggest pilot project in the world at the moment, is one of our company's successes in penetrating the international market. We wish we could introduce as many our solutions developed in the previous years as possible. However, this project is undoubtedly a big reference for us for the future«, says Janko Steharnik, M. Sc, CEO of the Iskraemeco d.d. company.
